Refold Vocab isn't in the app stores yet, but you can still put it on your home screen in about a minute. Open refold.la/vocab on your phone, then tap Install on Android, or Share and then Add to Home Screen on iPhone. After that it opens like any other app, synced with your Refold account.
Refold Vocab lets you study every Refold deck on your phone, synced with your account and all your other devices. It's not on the App Store or Google Play yet, but you can still install it straight from the website. It takes about a minute.
This works in Safari, Chrome and DuckDuckGo. It does not work in Brave, or in the little browser that opens when you tap a link inside Instagram, Facebook or your email app. If you're in one of those, copy the link and open it in Safari first.
Step 1: Open refold.la/vocab
Open your browser, type refold.la/vocab into the address bar and go. If you already have a Refold account, log in now: the app usually remembers you after you install it.
Step 2: Tap the Share button
The Share button is a square with an arrow pointing up. Where it lives depends on your browser:
Safari: at the bottom of the screen. If you only see a ••• button, tap that first, then Share.
Chrome and DuckDuckGo: at the top, next to the address bar (like in the picture below).
Tip: the Refold Vocab page also has a How button that shows these same steps on your screen.
Step 3: Tap "Add to Home Screen"
A menu slides up. Scroll down until you see Add to Home Screen and tap it.
Step 4: Tap Add
Leave Open as Web App switched on (green), then tap Add in the top right corner.
Step 5: Open it from your home screen
That's it! You'll find the purple Refold Vocab icon on your home screen. Tap it to open the app.
Step 6: Log in (if it asks)
The first time you open the app, it might ask you to log in.
If you use an email and password: log in right there in the app.
If you sign in with Google or Apple: those buttons don't work inside the installed app. Open refold.la/vocab in your regular browser (Safari, Chrome, DuckDuckGo…) and log in there with Google or Apple instead.
Once you're in, you'll see all your decks, ready to study:
Something not working on your iPhone?
I can't find "Add to Home Screen".
Scroll all the way down the Share menu first. If it's still not there, you're probably in a browser that can't install apps: Brave, or the browser built into Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp or your email app. Copy the link, open it in Safari, and start again.
The app keeps asking me to log in.
If you use Google or Apple to sign in, follow Step 6 above.
Can I study offline?
Not yet: you need an internet connection. Offline study is coming with the full app.
How do I remove it?
The same way as any other app: press and hold the icon, then tap Remove App.
Wait, what kind of app is this?
Refold Vocab is a "Progressive Web App". That's a fancy name for a website that can live on your home screen and open in its own window, just like a regular app. We built it this way first because it gets Refold Vocab into your hands weeks sooner than going through the app stores. A full app is on its way.
This works in Chrome, DuckDuckGo, Samsung Internet and most other Android browsers.
Step 1: Go to refold.la/vocab
Open your browser, type refold.la/vocab into the address bar and go. If you already have a Refold account, log in now.
Step 2: Tap Install
At the top of the page you'll see a purple box that says Get the Refold Vocab app. Tap Install.
Don't see the box? Tap your browser's menu button (the ⋮ three dots), then tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
Step 3: Tap Install again
Your phone asks if you're sure. Tap Install.
Step 4: Open it from your home screen
You'll see a quick Shortcut added message, and the purple Refold Vocab icon shows up on your home screen (or in your app drawer). Tap it to open the app.
Step 5: Log in (if it asks)
The first time you open the app, it might ask you to log in.
If you use an email and password: log in right there in the app.
If you sign in with Google or Apple: those buttons don't work inside the installed app. Open refold.la/vocab in your regular browser (Chrome, DuckDuckGo, Samsung Internet…) and log in there with Google or Apple instead.

Try your browser's menu (the ⋮ three dots) and look for Install app or Add to Home screen. If neither is there, you're probably in the browser built into Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp or your email app. Copy the link, open it in Chrome, and start again.
